Ending or New Beginning

Hard to believe another year has slipped by. As I sit on an airplane heading back home to NC after a visit with my 2 sons and grandson it’s hard to believe 2017 will be gone before we know it.  I remember when my oldest child, now 31, was 5 (wasn’t it just a few years ago?), but yesterday I sat and watched my 5 year old grandson get super excited over his nerf guns and the fact that Santa allowed me to give him his gifts early since I wouldn’t see him for Christmas. Sweet innocence.

As one year ends another begins and life just moves forward. 2017 was full of a lot of firsts. Our first full year without Lindsay, the first Anniversary of the Foundation, our first big fundraiser. My heart is so full from the love and Support LMBF received. Bittersweet and absolutely amazing at the same time. I know that feeling will never go away no matter how many years roll by. I had a close family member struggle with where his place was in  this world, and I pray his feet are firmly planted on the ground and pointed in the right direction. The saying “you don’t know what people are dealing with, be kind always” is very true. I owe many people a “thank you” for the kindness showed to this young man simply because he is mine.

I look forward to 2018, and what it has in store for my family, the Foundation and SSM. Each year Seaglass always has a few changes and with the way our business is run, change is good. Keeping things the same is definitely a little easier but we don’t want to lose what makes us different from the rest. I met a lovely woman whose organization is one I would love to get involved with, and I look forward to inviting her to SSM to introduce Roots of Recovery to Brunswick County.  I pray for our country to realize hate and anger will never solve a problem and I try every day to do something kind, as we all need to practice what we preach. Kindness is contagious, sprinkle it where ever you go. That sounds like a sign you might buy at Seaglass, but it is a simple truth.

As we celebrate the Holidays at the last Market of the year this coming weekend, we look forward to what the New Year will bring. Happy First day of Hanukkah and Merry Christmas to all. I don’t care what you celebrate, I wish you a happy one, and if you celebrate nothing…then I wish you a good day. Kindness is that simple.

Hope to see you this weekend at SSM December 15 through 17, Friday 9-3, Saturday 9-5 & Sunday 12-5!
