Its a great month to spruce up the outside. And with the weather we’ve been having, who wouldn’t opt for a little sunshine, fresh air and vitamin D.
Checklist for February-
Get the guest rooms ready-Time to clean out the bluebird houses and get them ready for nesting season. Best 4 to 5 feet off the ground and near a fence for perching. Add a few more to the community and attract more birds.
Trim the monkey grass– Use scissors and snip the old tattered leaves before the new ones start to emerge. If you have a large area, use the lawnmower on a high setting.
Perk up your pansies-If winter has your pansies and violas looking a little down and out, give them a lift. Remove damaged leaves and old blossoms. Then water and fertilize. Back to beauty even in the dead of winter.
Add edibles-Time to plant apples, pears, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. Sunny spot, well-drained soil and mulch lightly.
Having the right tools is always half the battle. A potting bench makes life in the garden so much easier..check out Mike and Sue Kinzie/Kinzie Krafts at Seaglass Salvage Market. Benches, herb boxes, birdhouses and more!
See you February 20,21,22!
